CSR Blogs We Love

Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, PR Newswire media relations manager Christine Cube selects an industry or subject and a handful of sites that do a good job with promoting and blogging about the space. Do you have a blog that deserves recognition? Tell Christine why on PR Newswire for Bloggers.

When I took on corporate social responsibility as a profile subject this week, I freely admit, I wasn’t prepared for this much awesomeness.

I feel like I arrived to this party kind of late.

Terms like CSR, social enterprise, and sustainability are carving new rules into the business landscape. We’re literally working toward a better world.

So I did a little homework and found some of the players.

Philanthropist Susan McPherson believes business can be a force for good. She hosts a bi-weekly #CSRChat on Twitter and wrote this awesome piece for Forbes – Through the Eyes of the Experts: A Look Ahead at Corporate Responsibility in 2014.

During a recent #CSRChat, I uncovered a bunch of gems, including Dell’s impressive corporate responsibility report and apparel company Brandix weaving its business into the community by empowering its female workforce and transforming the communities where its employees live and work.

Then I found some great blogs.

SustMeme is the work of sustainable futurist, speaker, and journalist Jim McClelland.

“As a sustainable futurist, particular topics of interest include: Systemics, swarm theory, semiotics, ‘greenwash’, CSR, living roofs and walls, etheco design and future cities,” he writes on his blog.

McClelland also curates SustMeme Magazine, which covers daily sustainability stories on economics, the environment, and social equity.

I really appreciate McClelland’s writing.

A couple of posts that caught my eye include Clean + green, in black + white, where McClelland links to a number of his journalism pieces published in the press (these include The Future is Unbuilt and Supply Chain Delivers Retail Revolution, both for Raconteur), and Workplace Wellbeing: Revolution of the Mind.

Realized Worth aims to engage employees in corporate citizenship programs, CSR, and sustainability.

This blog is chock-full of great information.

A couple of interesting posts include Global Pro Bono – What’s it Worth? (Parts 1 and 2), and Motivating Individuals to Commit to Corporate Volunteering.

“Companies are adding volunteering programs as part of their corporate social responsibility strategy,” the latter post says. “But, in order for a volunteer program to succeed companies need to learn what factors influence corporate volunteering, such as motivation and role identity.”

Triple Pundit is a new media company for “highly conscious business leaders” with a triple bottom line: People, planet, and profit.

Triple Pundit is a force to be reckoned with. Its posts are hard-hitting and informative.

Top categories feature everything from carbon trading and investment & markets to sustainable marketing and impact entrepreneurs.

I enjoyed a number of posts, including White House Launches $10B Rural Infrastructure Fund, The A-Z of Unusual Renewable Energy Sources, and Sustainable Purchasing 101: Tools for Buying Greener Products.

“We have grown to become one of the world’s most well-read websites on ethical, sustainable and profitable business with over 350,000 unique monthly readers,” the blog says.

Frederic Page’s The Best Way to Predict the Future is to Create it is a blog about “training and development, technology, business, B2B sales, sustainability and a little bit about my life too.”

I found interesting this post on 10 Tips to Make You More Powerful at Work.

Bay Area-based Page also tweets quite a bit of good content, including The Guardian’s article EU agrees to improve energy efficiency 30 percent by 2030 and this piece from Mark Hedges on Responsible Business Matters – ‘Responsible Business’ is relevant for all business! Here’s how and why …
